When it comes to coffee roasting, we understand every variety of Arabica bean is unique and must be skilfully roasted by hand to capture its inherent flavour potential and natural sweetness.

At Union Hand-Roasted our Roastmaster and his dedicated team of coffee roasters pursue this craft using our vintage roaster every day. Combining experience with a zealous focus for their craft, the Roastmaster and his team engage all their senses and skill to ensure every roast meets our demanding standards.

Small samples are pulled from the beans tumbling inside the drum as they gauge the:

COLOUR development of the beans
HUE of the smoke emitted from the drum
SOUND of the first crack as the beans open and double in size

Careful monitoring and adjustments to the time and temperature of the flame are made throughout to ensure every batch of coffee is roasted to absolute perfection.

We've roasted each coffee origin to harness its fullest expression of flavour and aroma, so as you sip and enjoy we help transport you back to the place where it was grown.

Many factors affect the flavour profile of a coffee including its micro-climate, soil type and quality, elevation, amount of sunshine, rainfall, and tree varietal. Given all these aspects subtly affect the final taste of our beans, we believe it is our obligation to hand-craft roasts which express the full purity of every coffee, and the most delicious flavour in your cup.
