Basic Barista Skills

Time: 6 Hours
Attendees: 8 Max

Revisit the basics of Espresso Science, Milk Foaming Techniques, Drink Preparation, Machine Care and Cleaning. This session is open to all skill levels as it will be "back to basics" with focus on obtaining consistency from your coffee preparation.

Intermediate Barista Skills

Time: 6 Hours
Attendees: 8 Max

Perfecting grinder adjustments and full espresso quality control through tamping style and regulated dosing, perfect milk foaming and texturing techniques, how to make machine adjustments and general machine maintenance. A good working barista knowledge is required as we will delve into the deep dark workings of your espresso machine.

Advanced Barista

Time: 4 Hours
Attendees: 4 Max

The advanced course is designed for baristas who are very competent in their coffee making. The course looks at how coffee should be tasted and spoken about. As well as the affect of origins and processing methods on the taste and flavours. This directly leads onto roast profiling and dialing in espresso.

The course also goes into dosing and packing techniques, espresso theory and analysis as well as espresso diagnostics. The day finishes with a barista pour down where barista are made to challenge their skill level in a friendly competition.

Latte Art

Time: 4 Hours
Attendees: 4 Max

Designed to put that final touch of beauty into your cup the Latte Art course is designed to take you one step closer to being a professional barista. It covers milk theory and correct steaming technique, moving onto splitting milk and pouring hearts and rosettas making you even more proud of your cup. The course also looks at drink building and presentation to take you to the next level.

Ethical Sourcing, Harvesting
and Cupping

Time: 3 Hours
Attendees: 8 Max

Join the Union. Follow the life of the bean from seed to cup. Along the way meet the farmers who nurture these top quality Arabica coffees and look at the different processes and their impact on the cup. Learn the skill of cupping through tasting a range of coffees and identifying their flavour characteristics. This course is definitely aimed at the dedicated coffee drinker.

Machine Maintenance and Care

Time: 3 Hours
Attendees: 8 Max

Understand the ins and outs of your espresso machine. Manage basic adjustments and repairs.
