Xejuyu (chey-hoo-you) is a beautiful coffee farm that has been in the same family for three generations. This is represented visibly by the well-established coffee plants and abundant shade trees. The farm is created from Arabigo (typica), Bourbon and Catuai varietals, each contributing 33 percent. This special coffee is produced in small batches, so highly sought after.
This coffee has a very sweet, medium acidity and medium body. You will find notes of tangerine upfront followed by raspberry and underlined with cocoa that gives it a very pleasant depth. All the flavours will merge as you swallow your coffee and will leave you with a long lasting sweet orange dark chocolate aftertaste.

Xejuyu is a beautiful coffee farm that has been in the same family for three generations.
This is represented visibly by the well-established coffee plants and abundant shade trees. The farm is created from Arabigo (typica), Bourbon and Catuai varietals; each contributing 33 percent.
The small amount of coffee that the farm produces is highly sought after so we are very privileged to have access to Xejuyu. Production is limited because the coffee trees are up to 50 years old which reduces their productivity; although new plantings and regeneration of the farm is underway. In addition the towering shade trees create a high percentage of shade that contributes to the low yield and slows the maturation of the bean to influences the incredibly sweet flavour profile. At this high altitude, frost can be a threat, but these tall shade trees create an insulation layer protecting the coffee. The benefit of the high altitude is that pests do not cause a significant problem in this environment.
The season is short; from February to March with only two pickings required. Freshly picked cherries are transported to Finca Bella Vista in Antigua for post-harvest processing because the farm does not have its own wet mill (beneficio). No herbicides are used, and weeds are removed by machete.
